Overall, I study the experience and consequences of possessing diverse group memberships with the goal of advancing sensitivity for how we vary and celebrating where we share common ground. I am interested in investigating various outcomes as they relate to (1) cultural norms for communication and emotion regulation and (2) discrimination from the perspective of targets and observers. My work has incorporated mixed methods (e.g., self-report, behavioral observations, psychophysiological) in service of improving our understanding of and promoting the quality of life for diverse populations. In my current work in the field of Institutional Research, I now apply my research interests towards understanding factors that support at-risk college students' ability to achieve academic success.

At the 2014 conference for the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues held in Portland, I gave a symposium talk entitled "Visions and pathways: Predictive retention model for transfer students" as part of the symposium entitled "From advocacy to action: Strategies for practicing diversity and inclusion." If you are interested in learning more about decision tree analysis, I am preparing a primer for social scientists. Please use the "Contact" tab to request these supplemental materials from me.

At the 2013 conference for the Society for Personality and Social Psychology held in New Orleans, I gave a symposium talk entitled "Emerging uses of the force platform in intergroup and interpersonal relations research" as part of the symposium entitled "New tools: Open source and publicly available technology for social psychology research." If you are interested in learning more about using the Wii Balance Board in research, I have prepared supplemental materials for this talk. Please use the "Contact" tab to request them from me.
